The GFGC 2025 Online Auction is Here!

If you participated in last year’s auction, we thank you for your patronage and support, and hope we have items you’ll wish to bid on this year!

To participate in this auction, please take a moment to read through the Auction Notes below.

PLEASE NOTE… The boat/motor/trailer and Brampton Brick lots can are not “regular” auction bid items and can instead be found here

About the Auction

First off, we’d like to inform you that the auction site is secured using a EV SSL Certificate (Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer). You likely nodded off in previous years when I explained it all, but here goes again… from the moment you connect to the auction site your browser is using a secure, encrypted channel, so your personal information cannot be intercepted or tampered with. In order to participate in the auction, you must create an account and provide your credit card info and billing information. This information is protected from the moment of creation, until the auction is finished, and your credit card information is NOT stored on the auction server. The Club endured a long and painful vetting process to obtain the Certificate because your privacy and security are our primary concerns.

If you experience technical difficulties with the Auction web site, please don’t call or email Lynn, rather contact the Auction Admin.

Auction dates…

The auction site will be open for previewing items beginning Friday March 22nd at 6pm,  and we apologize but there is a limitation in the software that does not allow adding items to your watch-list until the auction actually starts.

The auction will begin for all items on Friday, March 28 at 6pm.

The auction will end on Sunday, April 6 beginning at 3:30pm, with each item closing one minute after another until the last item closes around 9pm. (see below for why we did this…)

The Email Auction will follow the same opening and closing dates and times.

Sponsors…

Please take a moment to browse the Sponsors page, without whose generosity and support the Club could not offer it’s famous auctions!

So, how does the auction work?

1. Go to “https://auctions.grenvillefishandgame.com” and either register immediately or browse the available auction items at your leisure.

2. During the preview period, browse for items you are interested in, but remember you must register for an account before you can start bidding when the auction opens.

3. Once the auction starts, bid on the items you’re interested in, or add them to your watch-list so you can watch the activity and contemplate your bid strategy.

4. Unlike previous years, if you are the successful bidder at the end of an item auction, your credit card WILL NOT be automatically charged. If you remain on the items web page once the auction expires, you will be presented with a Pay Now button, and you may at that point initiate payment, or, if you are bidding on multiple items, you may elect to wait until they all expire before paying for them. You will also be notified by email, and can initiate payment via the email as well.

Registration…

To create an account, use an up-to-date version of browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Microsoft Edge. While I’ve not tested Safari, I cannot imagine it would be a problem. Please do NOT use Microsoft Internet Explorer!

From the main site URL, click on the “Log In/Register” hyperlink and login if you already have an account, or register to create an account. Also unlike previous years, you will not be required to enter your credit card information on account creation, but rather will only enter it once, during checkout.

Please note you are not required to register to view all the items, only if you wish to bid.

The Auction Menus…

Log In / Log Out – use to log in to and out of your account.
My Account – your personal information required to participate in the auction.
My Bids
– displays items you have bid on, whether you’re leading the bidding or not.
My Watchlist – items you have added to your watchlist, so you can keep an eye on them all in one place.
Sponsors – A list of all the GFGC Auction sponsors.
Featured Items – displays the “big ticket” items in this auction.
All Items – displays all auction items. Please note sometimes when navigating from page to page, the sort order of items changes… trust the SKU number of each item you are interested in.
Email Auction – displays items that will be bid on via email and not online.

The Email Auctions includes the boat-motor-trailer lot and and the Brampton Brick Interlock lot, which are done as a separate auction using email/phone to place bids. Bidding on these lots will also begin Friday, March 29 at 6pm and close Sunday, April 7 at 9pm. You can find the information on these lots in the Email Auction section of the Auction website. If you wish to place a bid, call or email Lynn at 613-213-1005 or at laholmes@truespeed.ca and he will track the bids. If you are outbid, Lynn will call you to inform you so you may place another bid if you wish. The high bidder will be notified by Lynn when the auction closes and payment can be arranged at that time.

Browsing items…

We’ve tried to be as detailed as possible in describing the items, but if you have questions about any of them, please do contact us and we will try to help.

As you are viewing items, you will notice a “Add to watchlist” hyperlink right above the bid box where you may add items to your personal watchlist. To view your watchlist, go to either My Watchlist, or My Account -> Auctions, and click the Watchlist hyperlink. The watchlist makes it easy to track all the auction items you are interested in in one place.

You can also search for items using the Search window at the top-right of the website page.

Bidding…

When bidding on an item you have a choice of bidding options; you can choose to use the Place Preset Bid Amount option and choose one of the 10 listed incremental bids in the drop-down list (determined by the item’s bid increment), or you can use the Place Custom Bid Amount option and enter the amount you wish to bid directly, so long as your bid meets or exceeds the next bid increment, the amount of which is indicated right below the bid boxes in brackets. Once you’ve selected a preset or customer bid amount and clicked either the Place Preset Bid Amount or Place Custom Bid Amount buttons, you will be presented with a popup windows asking you to confirm the bid.

Please note some items have reserve bids on them, and when you use the Directly Bid option, there is no correlation between the presets and the reserve bid, so it may take several unsuccessful bids before you reach the reserve.

Winning!…

Please note, while setting up the auction, we decided to stagger the end times of all the items by 1 minute. The reason for this is that if you are bidding on multiple items that happen to end around the same time, you will have time to switch to an item and enter a new bid if someone outbids you.

Please also note that there is no buyers fee or sales tax in this auction.

We are using a “soft close” feature, whereby if a bidder “snipes” (bids) during the final 2 minutes of an auction thinking other bidders won’t notice or have time to increase their bids, the item will have 5 additonal minutes added to it’s end time clock.

If you are the successful bidder and win an item, you will be notified by email shortly after the item closes.

If you are a successful bidder, you must complete the auction won process one of two ways…

Method 1. You will receive an email stating you have won an item, and there will be a PAY NOW button in the email which when clicked will take you to the Checkout page. Click on the Place order button to complete the process, understanding that your credit card has already been auto-debited. The next page will be the Order received page, and from there you can proceed back to other auctions you are watching. You will receive an email shortly thereafter, which you must print out and bring with you on Pickup day as proof of purchase. The receipt has a SKU number on it which the volunteer pickers will need to find your item in the warehouse.

Method 2. Go to My Bids and click on the Bids Won hyperlink. Here you will see the item(s) you have won, and you will notice a green Pay Now button beside each item (the buttons on this page can appear a bit wonky, sorry). You can click the green Pay Now button to initiate payment and generate a receipt for that item alone, or if you won multiple items you can click the blue CheckOut All button to process all items at once and have them on a single receipt. You may see errors indicating you cannot add more of these items to your cart, please ignore this and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the green Place order button to complete the process. The next page will be the Order received page, and from there you can proceed back to other auctions you are watching.

You will receive an email shortly thereafter with the subject Your Grenville Fish & Game Club Auction order has been received! Once we verify payment has been successfully completed, you will receive a second email with the subject Your Grenville Fish & Game Club Auction order is now complete. On this second email there will be a PDF Invoice attached, please bring a printout or this invoice with you to pickup day as proof of purchase, or present a copy or photo on your phone, the receipt has a SKU number on it which the volunteer pickers will need to find your item in the warehouse.

Pickup…

Volunteers will indicate where to enter the property and where to park for pickup. Please remain in your vehicle and a Club volunteer will assist you when you reach the pickup area. Please be sure to have your item receipt(s) that were emailed to you when you won the item as proof of purchase and have ID ready to show the pickers if you are picking up a firearm or ammunition, or alcohol. The SKU(s) on the receipt will allow our pickers to quickly locate your item(s) in the warehouse and get them to you so you can be on your way.

If you win a large item, we can assist you with loading if need be, but please bring an appropriate vehicle… the BBQ will not fit in your backseat!

We’ll do our best to expedite the pickups, but please remember, we’re all volunteers!

Emails…

When you register for the auction, bid on an item, are outbid on an item, or win an item, you will receive a confirmation email. It has been noticed some of these emails may end up in your spam/junk folders in your email client, so if you fail to receive emails from the GFGC Auction site, please check these folders. Emails will only come from “Grenville Fish & Game Club Auction auctionadmin@grenvillefishandgame.com“. If you receive any emails from us not from this email address, please contact us at grenvillefishandgame@gmail.com.
